Whether you sailed under golden parachute or hit the ground like a rock, you have to eat. Following are a few suggestions for making the most of your now-extended lunch hour - whatever the size of your redundancy package.
£1,000,000+

Nobu's lunchtime Bento Box (£28) means you can get a full array - including Black Miso Cod - without the extra 0 you'd normally see on your bill. They also have sushi deals (£24) and a cooked luncheon menu (£26). At these prices, you can most definitely go every day.

Zafferano offers delicious Italian food for lunch or dinner - for £15 less during lunch. Feast on four courses for £39.95 instead of £54.50.

The Orrery's set lunch menu offers three course with wine pairings for £40. Why not? You earn that in interest during lunch. Just don't let the wine sway you into post-lunch shopping at the Conran shop downstairs.

Gordon Ramsey will feed you three courses at Royal Hospital Road for a mere £45, or at Claridge's for only £30. Another great savings over dinner.

£100,000+

The ex-Lehman/JP Morgan couple that inspired this article love the three course lunch menu (£15) at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe. "We go at least once a week," they report. "And it's an absolute deal, well, unless we get into the champagne..."

The Avenue is another of their favourites, and two courses cost only £20.95. If you're really hungry, a third course is only £3 more. The Ledbury is similarly priced, with £19.50 for two courses and £24.50 for three.

Europe's first Michelin starred Thai restaurant, Nahm, will have you in and out for a £20. For that you get two courses in the hip surroundings of the Halkin hotel. Sawasdee indeed.

Murano and Hibiscus both offer set lunch menus for £25, which seems like the right maximum for this package bracket.

£10,000+

All day long, Ooze Risotteria offers two course from the menu (including specials) for £15 - including a cocktail. As they have some of the best Tiramisu in London, be sure that's one of your courses. And if you go in the middle of the afternoon, that's lunch AND dinner covered!

Maze Grill (again Gordon Ramsey, who fully understands the importance of set lunch menus) offers two courses for £15 and three for £18.

Or for the best deal of all, eat your way through Borough Market. Not only are the samples free, they'll more or less adhere to that Mediterranean diet you're trying to follow. Although you will have to buy the glass/bottle of wine to wash it down yourself....
