The Michelin Guide has doled out their latest batch of stars. There are no huge surprises, but at least one was a while in coming...
Michelin, the world's second largest tire manufacturer (after Bridgestone), began publishing travel guides in 1900. The star was introduced in 1926, and in the early '30s, two and three stars were added. The Red Guide publishes the restaurants, and Tokyo is the big city winner, with 227 stars.
Back here in London (where we have 132 starred restaurants), these are the newest recipients:
St John, Clerkenwell
Ambassade de L'Ile, South Kensington
Helene Darroze at The Connaught, Mayfair
