If you have any reservations about visiting India, forget them.  It has it all, top hotels; delicious food, magnificent sights, stunning scenery, great shopping and you feel very safe.
For a first visit to India the Golden Triangle, Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, is a wonderful trip.  Old Delhi has changed little since medieval times with the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid mosque and the ancient perfume market.

In contrast, New Delhi feels very European with wide tree lined avenues and elegant buildings.  The Oberoi hotel in New Delhi has a great atmosphere - very buzzy and vibrant. It has smart rooms, a luxurious spa, outdoor pool and the very popular 360o restaurant.  This contemporary restaurant has great views across the city and the food is wonderful.

In Agra you will see one of the best sights in the world, the Taj Mahal. Situated six hundred metres from this stunning monument to love is the Oberoi Amarvilas where all the rooms have breathtaking views. There is no better place to stay in Agra. It is best to get up early and visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise. It will take your breath away.

Jaipur in Rajasthan is the final destination in the Golden Triangle. While you are here you can arrive at the Amber Fort on an elephant, visit the City Palace and enjoy shopping for beautiful silks, gemstones, jewellery and dhurries in the bazaars. For nearly two centuries, the Rambagh Palace has been home to Indian royalty. It is now a hotel run by the Taj group and it is their jewel in the crown'. This elegant, historic hotel offers guests a taste of royal living in a magnificent setting.

After you have visited the Golden Triangle there are plenty of fabulous options to complete your Indian experience. If you want to continue with historical cities and sights then Jodhpur, Narlai and Udaipur are the places to visit.

The princely city of Udaipur is truly spectacular with the City Palace and the Taj Lake Palace hotel built on the lake. Udaipur also has the fabulous Oberoi Udaivilas, recently voted one of the best hotels in the world. This hotel is amazing, with stunning views across the lake, beautiful grounds, delicious meals served on the terrace and great service. It is very hard to fault this excellent hotel.

If you are looking for a complete contrast then try Kerala in the southwest of the country.  Green jungles, palm-fringed beaches, tea plantations and paddy fields dominate Kerala.  There is a wide range of accommodation in this part of India ranging from eco-friendly beach resorts to rice barges.

Havelock Island is the perfect honeymoon destination and it is one of India's best-kept secrets, until now. Havelock is one of the Andaman Islands and has the same balmy climate as the Maldives. Amazingly beautiful, with stunning beaches and a pristine reef, Havelock Island is the perfect place to unwind. Finally, for animal lovers a great option is a trip to Ranthambore National Park, home to the Indian tiger. There are also several other national parks to visit if you have the time.

It is no exaggeration India has it all, and the best time to visit is between October and March.
