Is that a wall between you and the rest of your life? If so, you've got three choices: over, under or through. Author Carol Talbot talks to HITC about figuring out your best way past it, and making the most of the work required to get there.
Hitting the Wall and Breaking Through came out just before Christmas and went straight onto Amazon's Top 10 Self Help Books List.
But don't let the 'self help' label scare you.
This book is written by a woman who teaches Firewalking.
Since walls aren't always 10 feet tall, solid and located in front of our faces, what are some of the warning signs that one is coming?
The challenge is that often, there are no warning signs and that's why these blocks, barriers, 'walls' cause us to swerve or crash.
Roughly speaking, how do the three approaches (over, under or through) differ?
1. Tunnelling involves digging deeper to discover what drives you and motivates you to keep going when the going gets tough. You'll find out what's really important to you so you are totally aligned with what you want and have the rocket fuel to go get it!
2. In Breakthrough you'll discover that you have your own resident wizard within you. You'll discover how to give your wizard clear instructions to help you get what you want. You'll become aware of the fears and limiting beliefs that become dream stoppers and prevent you from getting what you want and experience how to break through those dream stoppers so that there is nothing holding you back.
3. As you are Climbing Over that wall you'll gain a deeper self-awareness about yourself and the other people you choose to surround yourself with on your stage of life. Looking in the mirror, you'll discover new ways to evaluate situations, events and relationships, to handle conflicts effectively and step back from emotionally charged situations to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
And finally, once you've reached a 'garden of opportunity' you can start to identify your own success strategies so that you can recreate anything great you've done in the past right now and again and again in the future. You'll have the triggers to kick start your motivation strategy and understand which were the best decisions you made in the past, so you can use that same strategy right now.
And is the best approach related to the person or the problem?
It's your wall, it's your choice and it's your journey! I'm a great believer in 'one size does not fit all'.
Do you have a motto that helps you with the challenges in your life?
Nothing stays the same! Life is the wheel of fortune - it goes up and it goes down - so be sure to have more choices to get you back on the upswing.
Finally, the Firewalking. We're fascinated. What, how and why?
Firewalking is one of the oldest transformational tools the world has ever known. In every culture around the world, people have used firewalking as a means of empowerment, healing and purifying their communities and themselves. It serves as an unforgettable demonstration of human potential, as a lesson in transforming fear into positive energy, and as a way to deeply connect with the living consciousness of this earth.
Our focus influences a greater reality, and the firewalk is a method we can practice that teaches us both focus and influence.
