This feel-good treat is a huge comfy-jumper, night-in-on-the-sofa sort of film that’s about as good a rom-com gets.
Widower and dad-of-three, Dan Burns (Steve Carell), takes time out from writing his agony uncle column ('Dan In Real Life') for a family reunion in Rhode Island. There he bumps into Marie (Juliette Binoche), a quietly sexy 40-something with whom he immediately clicks.

However fate conspires against them, resulting in a film that is a work of minor brilliance and the perfect antidote to those left disappointed by the recent SATC offering.

This crept under the radar due to  a limited general release but is now available to rent and buy on DVD.

So while its not, in theory, quite jumper weather, this is the perfect antidote to Euro 2008. Treat yourself to a night in on the sofa with a chilled bottle of wine and Dan Burns.

Here Is The Writer : Martin Gallagher

Martin Gallagher Martin Gallagher has never played for West Ham or England, nor had a number one hit single, but he has worked in the City for many years (for what that's worth). A life-long Londoner, he made the migration from east to west a few years back and is still trying to get used to the absence of fried chicken takeaways and the over abdundance of coffee shops. Martin is married, has two daughters, and is also interested in travelling, football and writing. He hopes to publish his first novel 'sometime in the future'.
