The forecast looks good, even if today's a bit iffy. So drink, dance, ride, watch and best of all, get wet.
Drink
It was on accident, following the crowds and the signs to London Bridge Station one night, that we walked by the lovely patio at Vivat Bacchus. And what else did we notice? That every Saturday night they have live jazz (something their Farringdon location also offers). You can book in advance (it's £5 after 8pm) and check out the upcoming schedule here.
Dance
How's this for a concept: Alabama 3 unplugged. See this novel idea on Sunday at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. We are certain it won't be tame, mellow or boring, even with 75% of the instruments missing.
Ride
We've been seeing those yellow boats flying (and swerving) up and down the Thames. So what are they? RIB boats (Rigid Inflatable Boats), run by the Thames RIB Experience. We don't need to be sold on the fact they were featured in a Bond film. They look like fun and we're booking a trip.
Live
As you're wandering along the Southbank this weekend, be sure to swing by the Southbank Centre and cool off in Jeppe Hein's cool (literally and figuratively) Appearing Rooms. The fountains make 'rooms' that appear and disappear, and should you dare to enter them, soak you in the process. Oh well.
One For the Week
If the weather is nice on Thursday, you want to be at the Brittania Pub overlooking Victoria Park. Sure it's a bit hard to get to (388 bus or the BR to Homerton), but they're showing Quadrophenia as part of their Britflicks series, produced with the BFI. And how long has it been since you saw that film? You must go.
