Traditional cool: ice cream. Redefining cool: The Icecreamists. And now cool: someone making spirituality, uh, cool. A moveable feast. And free (hot) coffee.
Laugh (and Think)
By some LoveFilm fluke, we watched The Rocker. And it was surprisingly good! We told a friend, and she sent us a link to actor Rainn Wilson's website, Soul Pancake. We had no idea, but we LOVE this guy. The site asks the big questions (and 'de-lamifies' spirituality), and actually has an interesting community that's thinking about what's important (like why the heck you don't know your neighbours, and the things you're religious about). Furthermore, Rainn and his father run an online gallery of some seriously beautiful contemporary art. Who knew?
Chill
This weekend sees the opening of The Icecreamists Pop-Up Ice Cream Boutique in Selfridge's Ultralounge. It's only here until the 1st of November, and it's serving some seriously crazy concoctions like the Sex Pistol ice cream cocktail (featuring a shot of absinthe). If you check out their website, we promise it will all make sense.
Play
Our pick for this weekend's Thames River Festival has got to be the Feast on the Bridge. Sure, we're looking forward to seeing Southwark Bridge as something other than a construction zone, but we're also looking forward to the slicing of the six-metre cake, the Beast on the Bridge, before treading on grapes at the Festival Wine Bar.
Book
If you're looking for that perfect gift for your bad-ass bachelor brother or your hipster mate, may we recommend Bar School. The one-day cocktail making class (starting at the very civilised hour of 1pm and running until cocktail hour at 6) covers everything needed for killer cocktail making. The course is £149 and you can book here for the next class on the 26th of September.
One for the Week
Live near Brunswick, Battersea or Wimbledon? Then you're one of the lucky few who can take advantage a free morning coffee from Giraffe. A latte, cappuccino or espresso (or TeaPigs tea) can be yours for free from Wednesday the 14th through Sunday the 18th between 8-10am. (Maximum of two drinks per customer.)
