Lemon melons, armchair white water rafts, starfish bangles, the best tap water, rainy picnics. Never let it be said that we're afraid of interesting combinations.
Eat
What looks like a honeydew melon, tastes like a melon, costs £1.99 and is new to the UK market? A lemon melon, naturally. And on sale at Tesco, for your dining pleasure. We know, it sounds strange to us, too.
Drink
A mantra we love: enough with the bottled water (unless we're on the go and thirsty, and then what's a greenish person to do?). So we were interested to read about the tap water taste test run by Tom Aikens. Water from Severn Trent was voted best, followed by Anglian water, and then our dear Thames tap. See
Diana Krall at Kenwood house, this Saturday. Most tickets are gone, but Promenade tickets are still available. Of course, it might rain, but Elvis Costello's wife is worth it, no?
Buy
If you're not quite getting enough summer, pick up some starfish and shell bangles and earrings from Astley Clarke. Designer Vinnie Day was born in Ireland and grew up in Kenya, and from those two inspiring spots, brings the natural world into her styles.
Experience
If you like white-water rafting and also arm chairs, then you need to try River Bugging. Admittedly more action than lounge, this kayak-like experience originated in New Zealand and is now offered in Scotland. So not exactly a day-trip for this weekend, but maybe something for next.
