It's a good week for indie rock, indie dance and some big budget rap and pop.
Without a doubt the biggest release of the week is the White Stripes, Icky Thump. The UK loves Detroit's Meg and Jack, and who can forget that whole brother/sister...I mean...husband/wife thing? And with both happily partnered off with others, they can produce that raw, simple music that gets us going at every summer festival they play. This album brings on the blues rock with a few unexpected twists.

For those of you liking a, shall we say, younger sound (or have teenage girls at home), Corbin Bleu - Disney Channel household name - is for you. And if you're into rap, DMX brings out his first greatest hits package - The Definition of X: The Pick of the Litter.

Also this week, James Ford and Jas Shaw (who used to be in a band called Simian, and then went on to remix and produce for bands like The Arctic Monkeys), deliver their debut as Simian Mobile Disco, a "band" that started out as a joke. But now they deliver dance music with indie sensibilities, and a healthy dose of new rave.

But first we're buying Cuban Carnaval since BBQ season is upon us, and nothing sounds better than that!
