I never knew that ice skating was hip until my hip banker boyfriend took me skating with a group of his hip banker friends. And then my uber-hip members club invited me to their birthday party (on ice) at Somerset House.
But how could I have known? My experience was on ice rings in the middle of a mall in Florida, where ice is plentiful - in your freezer. For your cocktail. On the beach. I learned how to skate backwards with the best of them, before hitting the The Limited for another pair of stirrup pants.
Just remember, when planning your ice skating outing, book ahead (and we mean now), and schedule the gluhwein guzzle for AFTER you've removed your blades.
