Tonight was the first "real" night of the Tower of London Festival, and under threatening gray skies the crowd partied on, dancing in the aisles. Get it before it's gone.
For the past 10 years I've owned The Gipsy Kings' Greatest Hits. But I had no idea what these Kings looked like - or indeed what their fans looked liked. And now I know, since I'm officially one of them.
We arrived at the entrance (which sends you into the moat - on its own enough of a reason to go) around 7:15 p.m. We joined a long but quick queue and found our perfect patch of green for a rainy picnic. Seventeen big drops fell while we ate our Gu Lemon Cheesecake (admiring the cute picnic boxes Deliverance supplied) before we made our way toward the seats for the show.
Then the Gipsy Kings came on, lined up like an army wielding guitars, and got everyone moving in their seats. A few songs into it and the aisles were also full, and when the hits came, everyone was on their feet.
So if you're considering going to the Tower of London Festival (despite the crazy weather), you should know this:
Get on it!

So if you're considering going to the Tower of London Festival (despite the crazy weather), you should know this:
- Seats are limited to around 3,000 - the concert area is smaller than you think
- Because of this, it's a good idea to pay for good tickets (block A or the front of B)
- The most fun block (based on three concerts over two years) is B
- You can bring a picnic or order one from Deliverance
- It's a good idea to have an extra bottle of wine for the performance
Get on it!
