If early rave promoters went on to become chefs, this is what you would get. Reply to an email, give the password at the door, and have a great dinner.
Google underground restaurant London, and the first thing that comes up is The Underground Restaurant in Swanesea, located in a converted wine cellar. Not exactly what we were searching for. The second link gets us closer, but the "London" is in a Sponsored Link. A few more articles later, we get into the articles. Lucky Seattle and San Francisco.
From what we can tell, London has yet to get a proper underground restaurant, where people who are lucky enough to get on the list visit someone's home (or other space), make a "contribution," and get fed a fabulous (illegal) dinner. The parties range in size from 12-20, and cost $30-$100 for a set menu.
Of course, once the trend begins, it gets a bit more "proper," as offerings in Melbourne and Chicago can attest. But the real ones are unadvertised.
It reminds us of the Paris cinema-restaurant discovered in an unchartered cavern several years ago, complete with CCTV, telephone lines and seats carved into the rock.
Surely things are going on in London.
