Want to Rent a Penthouse in Wapping?
If you need a new pad and work in the City or Canary Wharf, this place is perfect for you. It's got two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, an open-plan living space, and frankly, is a super cool place to live alone, with your partner, or even with a small child (should one show up).
So I'm biased because it's mine, although really, it's my husband's, because he bought it just before we met. But if I'd been involved, we would've chosen it anyway.
This flat started out as the sexy bachelor pad, minimally furnished, with the sky and City views providing the backdrop. It hosted a party or five, and worked perfectly, especially with the terrace running the length of the flat.
Then I moved in, and brought a few dozen things with me. Suddenly it became a bit more like a home, much to the chagrin (but ultimate comfort) of my husband. Another five or 10 parties later (only this time with the stainless open-plan kitchen coming into use) it got a new addition.
This one took over the second bedroom, previously used for guests who loved having their own stone, glass and chrome bathroom, and access to the terrace. The large living space easily accommodated a play area, which was good, and the late night parties came to a halt, which was not so good. But the neighbourhood was surprisingly accommodating to this new kind of life, which made the transition smooth.
Now the three of us are moving to Toronto for 2-3 years and looking for someone who will enjoy living here as much as we have.
Here are 10 more reasons we've loved this place:

Here are 10 more reasons we've loved this place:
- Waitrose in Thomas More Square is a seven-minute walk away.
- Il Bordello serves great Italian food and is a one-minute walk away.
- The Captain Kidd is one of the nicest riverside pubs, and is three minutes away.
- You can walk to Tower Hill in 15 minutes, the City in 20-30 minutes, or Canary Wharf in 40. There's also a D3 bus that goes right to Canary Wharf, and the 100 that runs to Tower Hill or Liverpool Street Station.
- St Katherine Docks is an easy walk for dinner in one direction, and The Wapping Project is an easy walk in the other.
- The flat comes with a secure parking space.
- The bathtub fits two people (uh, or three).
- The flat has air con for those super hot days in the summer.
- The view from the flat includes the City lights as well as an ancient clock tower.
- Our porter is a lovely man named Danny who is always happy to help.
