HITC's own Banking Sloane Ranger discusses the virtue of the Mac and its place in the erratic weather that comes as summer slowly (or quickly) moves into autumn. And of course, where to find one now.
What a difference a month makes.
A month after purging myself of my Primarni, I am truly in corporate clothing (ish) and have proven I've not lost my fashion credentials with the updating and re-release of The Sloane Ranger Handbook in October (I told you - embrace it!).
And most importantly, summer has finally arrived. Sort of.
However, if like me you find the weather as unpredictable as the volume of commuters on the Northern Line in the morning, it pays to have a transitional cover up. Macs are big news for late summer into autumn, and once again Warehouse have come up trumps with beautiful blueberry capes and cream belted trenches.
COS are also continuing to take the high street by storm with both leather cropped sleeve jackets and kimono sleeve coats in grey, the new black for next season. With such tailoring and structured sleeves - again, it's all about the detail next season - it's hard to believe COS is H&M's big sister.
The superb sale at net-a-porter continues with bargain designer capes and coats if you are feeling more flash.
And for men? There is only one choice - Top Man. Translating the Urban Mod trend for next season in both cool city slicker and rebellious styles,
there are both belted macs and leather bomber jackets that would give both Burberry and Acquascutum a serious run for their money - or more than, given every item in the collection is £120 or under.
In fact the olive leather bomber is so gorgeous I am seriously considering getting it myself now the outsizes have extended to XXS - even just for the envy THAT sizing tag would attract in the office!

Charlotte is a recruitment manager at a rather large, rather global bank. She made the switch to banking after several years of recruiting for the fashion industry. Charlotte is now using her fashion contacts to look beyond the corporate dress code and ask, "Can you ever look Sexy in The City?" We're very much hoping the answer is YES.
