Ding dong, the sales are dead. Thank God! I don't think I can cope with any more reduced smock dresses, especially as their voluminous shape reminds me that I am one of the 88% who have failed to keep their New Years resolutions.
But the desire to shop remains, and whilst I have snapped up Nanette Lepore bargains in the sale that will take me perfectly into this spring's romantic look, I am so glad to see some fresh threads on the high street.
The collection that has seriously got me hot under my pussy-bow collar is the Pringle 1815, with the sweetest feminine blouses and tiered skirts and dresses in the spiciest mustard silk, perfect for layering over black turtlenecks and tights.
Jaeger's reinvention has been hotly anticipated, and whilst I am not convinced by the trend for stars kicked off by la Moss, their tailored skirt suits and dresses are second to none.
Those of you wishing to keep the trend for grown-up feminine dressing in muted shades of black and grey will be able to add a modern twist with Rick Owen's new collection of cowl neck tops and dresses that wil literally hug you warm in the lingering winter weather. Adding some bright accessories will make them pop until the sun comes out.
Of course some of us are watching the pennies, and if you only have a few to spend the best place is without a doubt Gap, where fresh shirts and unbelievably flattering wide leg trousers will bring you bang up to date without hurting your buck.
Not because there is a credit crisis on, but because London Fashion Week is back in a fortnight.
And more on that later...

Charlotte is a recruitment manager at a rather large, rather global bank. She made the switch to banking after several years of recruiting for the fashion industry. Charlotte is now using her fashion contacts to look beyond the corporate dress code and ask, "Can you ever look Sexy in The City?" We're very much hoping the answer is YES.
