In a week when Lily Allen was hailed a fashion-forward icon and Chambord the drink of choice, you would be forgiven for thinking the world had gone mad. But this was no ordinary week. Yes readers, once again this was London Fashion Week...
...and it brought more fashion and fantasy than most big-budget summer blockbusters, with the real happy ending being the AW08 looks are readily available on the high street now.

There were Grecian goddesses parading the catwalk at Christopher Kane, and structured armour-like coats and dresses in deep shades of grey and red that wouldn't look out of place on a fantasy movie-set at both Giles Deacon and Christopher Pugh.

For us mere mortals, invest in draped dresses from La Petite Salope and By Marlene Birger, or Manoush if you like your armour with a bit more embellishment to create your very own modern fairytale for Spring.

Colours of precious jewels reigned supreme at Betty Jackson and Aquascutum, while Pringle followed the ghost of Burberry past, marking it's return to form with a more muted palette. There are a multitude of dresses in colourful prints at Paul Smith and See by Chloe for Spring, whilst Young Fabulous and Broke should be your first stop to recreate the look of Pringle's rising phoenix from the flames.

And with that, LFW was over for another season, leaving most of wondering if it was all a dream.

But with the recent prudent tightening of belts, I for one, long for this brave new world.
