No new parent should be without the best-selling book, The Happiest Baby on the Block. But how do you become The Happiest Parents on the Block? By having The Coolest Baby on the Block (who is also The Happiest, of course).
Having recently scoured the web to find the coolest baby stuff around, we figured it was time to put together a master list of things we love - baby things we decided would make our home more, not less, stylish.

Admittedly, what's 'cool' is relative, unlike our normal area of expertise - etiquette - which is not a matter of debate.

But we hope this list will inspire you to not settle for the status quo.

So without further ado, in order of commitment required:

The glider/rocker
This is a piece of furniture worthy of any room in your house, at any time. It's made by Canada's Monte Design, and is as beautiful in person as it is online. Well worth the additional shipping & customs expense, which brings the total to about £1K.

The Leander crib
We love this cot bed, which will grow with your child to eight years of age (give or take a few inches). If you feel like really splurging (we didn't), it's hard to beat Nurseryworks Studio Crib.

The high chair
We know the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair is the practical answer, as it can be used by babies and adults alike. But we adore the Fresco Loft chair by Bloom, and this is an article about cool stuff, so....

The baby book
As far as we can tell, only one cool baby book has ever been created, and it's a veritable work of art by Chicago's Binth. Yours for $130 (including shipping to the UK).

Wall coverings
Babies love bright colours, so put away the stencil and get one of these easy-to-hang wall murals by Funky Little Darlings.

Objects by Skip*Hop
We love three - the bottle drying rack, the nappy caddy and the Duo nappy bag - which is the perfect Dad bag. For mum, we decided to go old school, and get a Kate Spade baby bag from the US.

Built NY bags
They remind us of our scuba-diving days, and we love the fact they attach to the pram or one of the aforementioned baby bags.

Now, about getting your child to say 'please' and 'thank you'...

Here Is The Writer : Mr & Mrs Properly

Mr & Mrs Properly Mr and Mrs Properly will never come to your home empty-handed. They hold doors for young and old alike, always say please and thank you (especially to each other), and try not to be judgemental when they witness bad manners. Their bookshelves feature works by Debrett's, Knigge, Miss Manners and Emily Post, and when they're bored, they write this column for Here Is The City while making dinner. Both work in the City.
