It's here - the film we've been waiting on for more than two years. Yes, folks, it's Sex and the City, and having just come back from two weeks in New York City, it is high time to start dressing the part.
If you are heading across the pond to take advantage of the dollar and wish to unleash your inner-Carrie, here are a few places to check out to get the look for less:
Kensie
My perennial Macy's favourite hotspot, Kensie has the best high-waisted, wide-leg trousers in white pinstripe or black or more subtle grey/gray if you prefer, complete with matching waistcoats - just add trilby! Balloon shape tunics and dresses with blocks of colour including mouthwatering lemon and raspberry bring just the right mix of femininity and edginess to your workday wardrobe.
Old Navy
Unbelievably, the guiltiest of all American mall secrets has hit the big screen with it's Marc Jacobs-a-like tulip skirts in candy-coloured polka dots and stripy shirts with the mother of all pussy bows. Being asked by a colleague if I had bought my $24 skirt from Marc Jacobs made me feel like a real A-list star.
International Concepts (INC)
Another department store concession with funky sweater dresses at a steal and again, blouses with that SJP pussy bow favourite, in huge floral prints in eye popping yellow and royal blue.
Fascinators
What girl would be complete without her own Carrie-esque corsage? Yes, this summer, the trend for everything floral extends to our accessories with the return of corsages and fascinators for those wedding, races and just general summer party days. Now I wouldn't recommend squeezing one into your suitcase, so wait until you get back to check out the ranges at Debenhams, Accessorize, or Cherry Chau if your budget is a bit more Hollywood.
Like New York City herself, in no time you will be ready to be the fifth lady of Sex and the City.

Charlotte is a recruitment manager at a rather large, rather global bank. She made the switch to banking after several years of recruiting for the fashion industry. Charlotte is now using her fashion contacts to look beyond the corporate dress code and ask, "Can you ever look Sexy in The City?" We're very much hoping the answer is YES.
