For City firms, Heart of the City's Newcomers' Programme provides free support around launching community programmes for the first time. Since its inception in 2005, the Newcomers' programme has signed up 101 businesses.
Through their CSR departments, some 40 top City firms with strong Corporate Community Involvement (CCI) programmes provide mentoring support to a Newcomer business. Mentors host a sequence of workshops devised by Heart of the City and share templates and key CCI materials to get you underway.
If you are interested in volunteering on an individual basis, check out opportunities at www.city-action.org. Also check in with your firm's CSR people to see if your firm already has ways for you to engage with the Heart of the City (which might earn you a few days away from your desk!).
Founded in 2000 by the then Governor of the Bank of England Lord Eddie George, Heart of the City is backed by the City of London.
If you'd like to promote your charitable giving or organisation, we've built two ways to play on Give Back. Your Good Works showcases employee efforts while Spot on Charity highlights charities on the lookout for donors and volunteers.
