Need an escape from the market? Yesterday began the auction for seats on the first commercial A380 flight, which will leave Singapore for Sydney on October 25th, and return the next day. Bidding has commenced, and you can get yours in here.
So it's not Concorde.

But it is a double-decker airplane, and it is a historic occasion in aviation history.

Singapore Airlines has put on auction a variety of seat configurations, including single and pairs of Suites and Business seats, and one, two four and 10 Economy seats (for one lucky lot).

Here's where the bids are at time of writing:
  • Pair of Suites - round trip tickets, plus first class to and from Singapore, no bids (starting at approximately £125K)
  • Pair of Business seats - one way (approximately £5K)
  • 10 Economy seats - one way (approximately £1800)
  • 1 Economy seat - one way (approximately £1250)
And the charities supported are:
  • Singapore's Community Chest
  • A split between the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick, and The Children's Hospital at Westmead, both in Sydney
  • Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders.
Bidding ends on Saturday and Sunday, depending on the offer.

We wish we could say we'd see you there!
