According to the newspaper, in the UK alone Goldman staff 'have assisted 29,428 young people, 23,644 adults, 2,667 pensioners, 10,073 people with disabilities and 406 animals'. They have 'renovated 241 community buildings and 17 playgrounds, beautified 3,646 acres of land, planted 3,669 trees and flowers in 157 gardens and delivered and served more than 5,600 meals'.
This year, Goldman staff are apparently to be given a day on full pay to work on a project of their choice. This is pretty impressive stuff - and we want to know how your firm compares.

For the last 2 years Citi has given all staff paid leave to be used as a Volunteer Day.
Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse has a Global Philanthropy team that arranges for the firm's employees to 'Give a Day to Charity'. This day is taken with full pay (and even includes contractors).
State Street
All State Street employees are entitled to two paid days leave a year for volunteering activities. Since 2001 over 28,000 staff have volunteered in excess of 165,000 hours in over 1,900 projects across globe. In 2006, 463 UK staff volunteered 1,300 hours to over 30 projects. State Street also has a Global Philanthropy program which has made over 6,000 grants totalling $92m since 1977. State Street Corporation allocates 1.5% of its pre tax profits annually to its charitable giving.

Allows two days of paid leave for volunteer work.
