The inaugural event took place in 2005 between Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley. Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank took up the challenge in 2006, and the addition of UBS this year further increases the sponsorship potential for the banks' chosen charities - Dreams Come True, Whizz-Kidz, SPARKS, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and The Bridge Academy, Hackney.
The race is contested by teams of six people, who swap a baton every hour as they run 87 miles from London to Dover, swim 29 miles from Dover to Calais and cycle 180 miles from Calais to Paris. This year's challenge, with five six-person squads, will take place during appropriate tidal and weather conditions over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Clients, colleagues and friends are sponsoring each squad.
