You know those plastic carrier bags are bad. If you get a second use out of them, then you're one step ahead. What about eliminating them completely, and carrying hip cloth shoppers that tell the world how stylish and sensitive you are?
If you haven't received ones through the course of life (free at Fresh & Wild, Taste of London, or from a well-sponsored event), then acknowledge your duty by purchasing from our short list of cool bags.

The Clever Baggers Ltd
For a mere fiver, you can make a statement and remind yourself that free thinking is always the better option with the 'I'm NOT A Clone' bag. They also offer ones printed with dusty library books (£2), or, for excellent value, packs of five for £8.50, each proclaiming, 'I'm a Clever Bagger'.

Rosablue
If you'd like a bit more style in your shoppers, check out the selection from Rosablue. At £19 each, they're not exactly inexpensive, but the striking stripes and mismatched prints sure are cute.

A Stupid Bag
Also taking inspiration from Ms. Hindmarch's 'I'm NOT A Plastic Bag', this company (which does ship internationally) offers varieties which say things like 'I'm JUST A Stupid Bag', 'I'm A VERY Cheap Bag', and a few others we won't repeat here ($9.99).

Ethical Superstore
And if you like your messages undiluted, the 'Say No to Plastic Bags' tote (£3.99) will make your position very clear.

In fact, you could bring with confidence any one of these to the Manifesto Club's 'Bin the Bag' Club Night on the 29th of January. The event (free for members, £5 for non) at The Old Queen's head in Islington will ultimately ask the question: What does the plastic bag really mean to contemporary culture? Present for the discussion will be a political commentator, a journalist, a designer, and a rep from the plastics industry.
