Thanks to the Observer, we can peep like toms into the s.x lives of our fellow countrymen. So what do we see? That this country, however reserved as it may be, is most definitely getting it on. And that stereotypes and cliches are also alive and well.
So when does it all begin?

On average, respondents lost their virginity between the ages of 16-17 years of age. The youngest generation (16-24), reported age 15.

Number of notches on the bedpost?

On average, nine. Twenty percent of the population (and 75% of City workers, we're guessing), have had more than 10 partners. Again, the youth of today is busiest - by the age of 24, they report an average of nine partners.

How often?

On average, just under seven times a month. Eight for men and six for women. Given the fact only 4% of respondents were gay, we're stumped. And naturally, married respondents reported less sex than single ones. (At least the married ones have a higher level of satisfaction than the single ones. But while we're on the topic of married respondents, they also reported having a lower sex drive. And we wonder why the marriage rate is still decreasing!)

Are they any good?

Most would say average. Our favourite group (the 16-24s who are simultaneously more and less experienced than the rest of us) are most likely to consider themselves 'very good'. Of course they are. Thirty percent of men would also qualify themselves as 'very good', compared to 19% of women.

And who are these people?

A group of 1,044 adults above the age of 16. One in five of whom has had sex at work.

The takeaway?

Men are more inclined to exaggerate and brag, and youth is still wasted on the young.
