Here in London where people don't flirt and smile at each other in the street lest they inadvertently chat up a terrorist, teeth may well be deemed unnecessary. This may explain the English attitude of 'Nobody sees them, so why spend money?'
If that philosophy were true, lingerie sales would be the first to plummet, and for that matter, condom purchases. There is always hope.

But nothing says confidence more than a well-groomed grin. Like a decent handshake, it can set the tone for a job interview or determine whether or not that hottie at the bar responds to your opening line. If your teeth haven't been out in public since the tooth fairy made her last deposit, you can opt for a whole range of cosmetic treatments ranging from whitening to veneers. All of these require time, consideration and real money.

On the other hand, if your teeth could do with a polish, Ms R has the treatment for you. Diamonds. Some very clever dentists have opened up the equivalent of a nail bar for teeth called Smilepod. They clean and polish. Although they're qualified to do more, they don't do any invasive stuff. What they can do is give you the Ferrari of tooth polishes and in doing so, double your self-esteem in the space of half an hour.

It starts with a clean where gums are checked for bleeding and plaque. This is done using Modern Technology so nervous readers need not be afraid. At this point, they then apply something that feels like fizzy sherbet to your teeth with a high-powered air polishing jet to remove surface stains. It felt like my teeth were being tickled and wasn't at all painful. Then came the diamond polishing paste, which shines your teeth to a high gloss. There is no whitening involved. This is simply adding a shine.

Afterward, my teeth felt wonderful. And they looked amazing. I am fortunate to have teeth that haven't discoloured much over the years, which meant that I got an amazing result, and two days later when I had a particularly hot date it was still apparent. This is the kind of feel-good treatment that you can have anytime, whether or not you've had your teeth whitened, which, incidentally Smilepod also offers. They also have a whole menu of cleaning and polishing treatments which cater to the poor of time (Smile on the Run) and the teeth of shame (Smoker's Makeover).

A High Gloss Diamond Polish costs £85. A Smile on the Run treatment costs £35 and if you book this month (July 2009) you'll also get a free tooth whitening consultation (worth £25). You can also receive £75 off a home whitening treatment (normally £275) if you book it at the same time. Click here for more.

Here Is The Writer : Ms Robinson

Ms Robinson Ms Robinson was once a copywriter who wrote award winning ads and had eight hour lunches. Weary of the sex, glamour and lavish parties, she switched to corporate communications where she held the hands of executives and banned them from writing this execrable sentence: "In this ever changing world, the only constant is change itself." These days she writes for an increasing variety of people and has ghostwritten several books but if she told you who for, she'd have to kill you. Click here to read her blog, Woman of Experience.
