The Soul Sister normally helps us reel it in. But what if we want to splash it out?
Dear Soul Sister

Everyone talks about the credit crunch - how we should tighten our belts and not spend, but I have just turned a corner from a very tough time of depression, and I need to focus on good things. And for me, that includes spending money. Is that so bad?

Dear £££

It is such a great achievement to leave the darkness of depression behind. And of course you want to be active and do things, and that often means spending. But must it? (Don’t worry, I am not going to advise you to smell the flowers - which are free - even though that is great advice!) In William Bloom’s book on endorphins, he manages to refocus his readers in a similar way, and they acquire a different perspective. A work I find immensely helpful.

But you are probably remembering what I said before about massage, yoga, and other well-being activities. Things that seem to be great treats but are often out-of-reach during belt-tightening times. That is why over the years I have tried to make relationships with professional people who are excellent - but affordable. Feel free to go to my website and browes under ‘people I work with’ and you will find them.

You can also make it a project to find people like that yourself!

I know at the moment there are some great deals available for yoga, T'ai Chi and Reiki at Re-Vitalise. It isn’t free, but a long weekend may set you on a new path to even better health, so that's an investment worth making (and doesn't quite count as shopping).

All the best with your research - and please let us know who you find!
