What to do when nothing sounds good? Get moving.
Dear Soul Sister

I've been feeling low for months and needs a little inspiration. I'm stuck in a rut and don't have the energy to do anything, but I need to get out and do something. What do you suggest?

- Stuck

Dear Stuck

I understand where you are coming from - and what you are trying to leave. When you're in a dark valley, and it can be difficult to find the strength to do anything. But as soon as you break the cycle and get yourself to do the first thing, doing more will come more easily. It's like inertia. You just need to get started moving.

Over the summer there are special short courses offered by London colleges to tempt people to do something a little different.

Morley College in Lambeth has a fantastic summer program, one day courses allowing you to sample things like Egyptian belly dance, yoga and meditation, as well as salsa, writing, singing, dancing, drama, and language courses. Some courses are as inexpensive as £7, and the teachers are very competent. Sign up for one and slowly build up your reserves of energy to do more.

If you are into nature, go quickly to The Isabella Plantation within Richmond Park. The masses of colourful azaleas and rhododendron are beyond words beautiful, and right now, bluebells cover the place right now.

Or in the North of London try The Hill Garden and Pergola in NW3. I defy anyone not to be charmed by it. Bring a delicious picnic and dream of your next step. Perhaps a weekend in Italy? A painting class in France? And while you are saving up for that, enjoy the fact that you are  indeed saving up for yourself - for your better future. Let yourself feel the empowering thought that you are at last becoming the creator of your own life.

London has so much to offer and a lot of it is really affordable.
